Job Title: Mental Health Specialist IJob Summary:

We are seeking a highly motivated and compassionate Mental Health Specialist I to join our team at Nationwide Children's Hospital. As a Mental Health Specialist I, you will play a vital role in providing high-quality, patient-centered care to our pediatric patients and their families.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Participate in interdisciplinary team activities to provide specialized patient care.
  • Provide encouragement, support, and reinforce positive behavior with a therapeutic, calm approach while maintaining therapeutic boundaries.
  • Collect, document, and report data, including vital signs, temperature, pulse, respirations, blood pressure, heights, weights, and abdominal girth.
  • Provide basic supportive care, including hygiene, nutrition, mobility, and elimination.
  • Perform procedures, such as specimen collection, cast/traction/pin care, and simple dressing changes.
  • Assist with physical crisis intervention techniques and physical restraint during specific crisis situations.
  • Document all data collected and care provided.
Requirements:
  • High school graduate or equivalent.
  • Students in Bachelors of Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, or related field can apply after half of their undergrad program has been completed.
  • One year of comparable experience in a hospital setting within the past 3 years.
  • Good written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
  • Neat appearance, good grooming, and professional manner.
  • CPR trained (American Heart Association CPR for Family and Friends) course or Health Care Provider course or Red Cross equivalent.
