Mental Health Specialist I

Job Summary: We are seeking a skilled Mental Health Specialist I to join our team at Nationwide Children's Hospital. As a Mental Health Specialist I, you will provide basic supportive care to patients and families in our Youth Crisis Stabilization Unit.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in specialized patient care activities with the interdisciplinary team.
- Provide encouragement, support, and reinforce positive behavior with a therapeutic, calm approach.
- Collect, document, and report data, including vital signs, temperature, pulse, respirations, and blood pressure.
- Provide basic supportive care, including hygiene, nutrition, mobility, and elimination.
- Perform procedures, such as specimen collection, cast/traction/pin care, and simple dressing changes.
- Assist with physical crisis intervention techniques and physical restraint during specific crisis situations.
- Document all data collected and care provided.
Requirements:
- High school graduate or equivalent.
- Students in Bachelors of Psychology, Social Work, Nursing, or related field can apply after half of their undergrad program has been completed.
- Good written and verbal communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.
- Neat appearance, good grooming, and professional manner.
- CPR trained (American Heart Association CPR for Family and Friends) course or Health Care Provider course or Red Cross equivalent.
