Overview

This role encompasses engineering functions related to the manufacturing workflow. The individual will oversee departmental operational planning and execution, focusing on the implementation of professional activities within a specific technical area. While operating with a degree of independence, the position is guided by established policies and the review of outcomes. The role allows for adjustments in procedures and practices as long as the final results adhere to quality, volume, and timeliness standards.

  • Key Responsibilities
  • Establish and manage production processes, including tooling and equipment specifications. Ensure the validation of design specifications and their application on the shop floor for new products, tools, or equipment.
  • Develop processes, IT tools, training programs, and value streams to be utilized by the manufacturing team.
  • Possess experience in warehouse and logistics management.
  • Implement project controls effectively.
  • Demonstrate expertise in master scheduling.
  • Exhibit a strong background in Open Plan, including coding and report generation.
  • Manage critical path activities.
  • Ability to formulate and sustain material, engine, and program-level schedules.
  • Coordinate receiving and kitting operations.
  • Experience in engine assembly and instrumentation scheduling and application.
  • Manage load balancing for lines of business or cells.
  • Create, maintain, and report on schedules for assembly, IAS, and testing.
  • Train team members on scheduling concepts within Open Plan applications.
  • Serve as an Open Plan system administrator.
  • Coordinate and expedite material flow from suppliers and within departments in accordance with production schedules. Plan and schedule material and production requirements, impacting departmental operations and responsible for execution. The role allows for some autonomy while focusing on the execution of activities within established functional practices and procedures.
  • Develop and implement master planning, material processes, and systems, while preparing and updating production schedules and purchasing requirements. Ensure alignment with production plans and key performance indicators (KPIs). Optimize inventory levels and drive process improvements.
  • Exhibit strong verbal and written communication skills. Demonstrated capability to analyze and resolve issues. Proficient in documenting, planning, marketing, and executing programs. Established project management competencies.
  • Utilize software tools such as Oracle, GPS, Impact, CAS, Open Plan, Digital Thread Intelligence, and various access databases, with particular proficiency in Open Plan. The role will also involve interfacing with government property activities, including inventory management and reconciliation, as well as contract closeouts and validation reporting.
  • Possess knowledge of best practices and understand how the area of responsibility integrates with other functions; maintain awareness of competitive factors and differentiators in the market.
  • Employ sound judgment and the ability to propose alternative solutions outside established parameters to address complex manufacturing processes with technical diversity and interdependent production cycles. Utilize technical expertise and analytical reasoning, drawing from multiple internal and limited external sources to inform decision-making.
  • Act as a resource for less experienced colleagues. May lead small-scale projects with low risk and resource requirements. Communicate information effectively; develop skills to foster consensus among team members on relevant topics. Set performance expectations and manage sensitive issues.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution or a high school diploma/GED with a minimum of 4 years of experience in manufacturing, engineering, materials, program management, or Open Plan. A minimum of 3 years of relevant experience is required.
  • Willingness and ability to obtain US Government security clearance.
