Definition:

Under the general oversight of the Quality and Compliance Administrator, this role is pivotal in supporting the management of quality assurance and compliance functions within the Health & Human Services (HHS) Department for the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community. As a key member of the management team, this position serves as the primary liaison for Risk Management to the Quality and Compliance department, ensuring the delivery of high-quality care, performance analytics, and compliance oversight.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Oversee the quality of care and manage risk incidents, including sentinel events and complaints, through comprehensive root cause analysis and process improvement initiatives.
  2. Facilitate the Risk Review Committee and address all patient safety and risk-related matters.
  3. Supervise Patient Advocate staff to enhance patient satisfaction efforts.
  4. Develop and present the annual HHS Risk Management Plan and Policy for executive review.
  5. Act as the administrator for the HHS event reporting and complaint management system.
  6. Manage the workflow of event reporting and complaints, ensuring timely resolution and follow-up.
  7. Identify high-risk areas that may pose threats to clients, visitors, and staff, collaborating with clinical and facilities teams to mitigate risks.
  8. Provide expert consultation on risk management practices, performance improvement, and compliance strategies.
  9. Serve as the Risk Management Department liaison to the Quality and Compliance Department, offering insights and recommendations.
  10. Assist in the preparation for accreditation surveys and maintain standards post-accreditation.
  11. Ensure adherence to all privacy regulations concerning protected health information (PHI).
  • Act as the HIPAA Privacy Officer for the department.
  • Design and implement training programs for new hires and ongoing HIPAA education.
  • Investigate and report any potential privacy violations related to HIPAA/PHI.
  1. Participate in the Quality Assurance Committee, providing data and support for quality initiatives.
  2. Contribute to the development and monitoring of policies and procedures as needed.
  3. Perform additional duties as assigned by HHS leadership.
Qualifications:

Education & Experience: A Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field or Registered Nurse (RN) licensure, along with three years of relevant risk management experience is required.
  • A Master's degree in a healthcare-related field is preferred.
  • Arizona state licensure in a health services discipline is also preferred.
Special Requirements:

May require flexible working hours, including nights and weekends. Candidates providing direct services to children are subject to specific community regulations. Pre-employment drug testing and background checks are mandatory.
