Position Overview:

Under the general guidance of the Quality and Compliance Administrator, this role is integral in overseeing quality and compliance initiatives within the Health & Human Services (HHS) Department for the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community.

As a key member of the management team, this position acts as the primary liaison for Risk Management, ensuring the highest standards of care and compliance are met.


Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage the quality of care and risk incidents, including sentinel events and complaints, through comprehensive root cause analysis and process improvement strategies.
  • Collaborate with various departments to identify and mitigate sources of error, enhancing clinical practices and reducing risks.
  • Facilitate the Risk Review Committee, addressing patient safety and risk-related concerns effectively.
  • Supervise Patient Advocate staff to bolster patient satisfaction initiatives.
  • Develop and present the annual HHS Risk Management Plan and Policy for executive review.
  • Oversee the event/incident reporting and complaint portal, ensuring timely and appropriate responses to all reported issues.
  • Identify high-risk areas that may jeopardize the safety of clients, visitors, and staff.
  • Work alongside clinical and facilities staff to implement effective infection control measures.
  • Serve as a consultant for risk management activities, compliance initiatives, and policy development.
  • Assist in preparation for accreditation surveys and maintain compliance post-accreditation.
  • Ensure adherence to all privacy regulations concerning protected health information, acting as the HIPAA Privacy Officer.
  • Conduct training for new hires and ongoing education regarding HIPAA compliance.
  • Participate in the Quality Assurance Committee, providing data and support for quality improvement efforts.
  • Contribute to the development and monitoring of policies and standard operating procedures.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by HHS Leadership.

Qualifications:

Knowledge of the culture, customs, and needs of the Salt River Pima-Maricopa Indian Community is essential. A Bachelor's degree in a healthcare-related field or Registered Nurse (RN) licensure is required, along with three years of experience in risk management. A Master's degree and Arizona state licensure in a health services discipline are preferred.

Any equivalent combination of experience that meets the job requirements may be considered.
