Sanitation Operations Manager

At Brothers Desserts, we are seeking a highly skilled Sanitation Manager to join our team. This role is responsible for overseeing the sanitation team and ensuring that our ice cream manufacturing plant adheres to sanitation standards and regulations.
Key Responsibilities:- Lead the sanitation team to ensure proper cleaning and sanitizing of all equipment, tools, and production areas according to our sanitation schedule and regulatory standards.
- Oversee the selection, proper use, and storage of cleaning and sanitizing chemicals, ensuring the team is trained on chemical safety, intended use, and application.
- Develop, implement, and maintain sanitation procedures and standard operating procedures (SOPs), including Clean-in-Place (CIP) systems, to ensure compliance with industry standards, GMPs, and food safety regulations.
- Collaborate with engineering and maintenance teams to review and improve sanitary design in production areas, ensuring that all equipment and facility design follow sanitary principles to minimize the risk of contamination and optimize cleanability.
- Perform and manage sanitation validation and verification processes, including CIP validation, to ensure the effectiveness of cleaning and sanitizing practices.
- Ensure that sanitation practices comply with all federal, state, and local regulatory requirements, as well as internal company policies (e.g., FDA, SQF, HACCP).
- Train sanitation personnel on best practices, chemical safety, CIP systems, and sanitation procedures, providing ongoing coaching and development to improve team performance.
- Work closely with the QA, Production, Engineering, and Maintenance teams to coordinate sanitation activities, resolve any sanitation-related issues, and optimize sanitary design and processes.
- Maintain accurate records of sanitation activities, CIP operations, chemical usage, validation reports, and non-conformances, providing regular reports on sanitation performance and corrective actions.
- Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Engineering, or a related field preferred.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in a sanitation management role in food manufacturing, preferably in the ice cream or dairy industry.
- Strong knowledge of sanitary design principles, CIP systems, cleaning and sanitizing chemicals, and their proper application.
- Experience with sanitation validation, verification, and CIP system validation.
- Familiarity with GMPs, HACCP, and food safety standards.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
