Position Summary
As a key member of our Supply Chain team, you will significantly contribute to the management of our North American rail logistics operations. This role focuses on the development and execution of the maintenance and reliability strategy for LyondellBasell's extensive railcar fleet, which consists of approximately 17,000 railcars. Your daily responsibilities will involve collaborating with the railcar maintenance team to enhance existing data systems and create tools for tracking, analyzing, and reporting on railcar reliability metrics.
Key Responsibilities
- Oversee the implementation and management of the maintenance and reliability program for our tank and hopper railcar fleet.
- Serve as a liaison among the Rail Maintenance Team, Manufacturing, Technical Services, Compliance, and external vendors to align with business goals.
- Utilize data analysis techniques to devise engineering solutions addressing recurrent failures and operational challenges impacting railcar performance.
- Develop and maintain tools for monitoring and reporting on railcar reliability.
- Manage specifications for tank car modifications based on commodity safety data sheets, engineering enhancements, and regulatory updates.
- Gather insights from supply chain stakeholders to provide technical guidance during the onboarding of new railcars and service changes.
- Collaborate with colleagues to offer solutions for rail logistics and maintenance challenges.
- Create and refine Preventive Maintenance (PM) and Predictive Maintenance (PdM) plans along with associated procedures.
- Establish a consistent measurement system aimed at enhancing reliability and proactive initiatives.
- Support the development of Long-Range Plans, identifying critical equipment and formulating mitigation strategies.
- Lead cross-functional teams focused on reliability improvements to ensure equipment and process dependability.
- Prepare Management of Change documents and facilitate evaluations for reliability initiatives.
- Stay informed about emerging technologies that could enhance reliability and reduce maintenance costs.
- Participate in and lead investigations to identify and rectify root causes of incidents.
- Manage risks associated with achieving strategic objectives in asset capability, performance, and quality.
- Exemplify LyondellBasell's core competencies in interactions with stakeholders.
- Ensure adherence to corporate, industry, and company standards and procedures.
Qualifications
Education: Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering.
Experience: A minimum of 5-10 years in Reliability and/or Maintenance engineering within the manufacturing sector. Proficiency in analyzing large datasets and conveying insights effectively across all organizational levels is essential. Strong presentation skills and the ability to influence stakeholders are crucial.
Preferred Skills: Familiarity with the Rail Industry and rail maintenance practices is advantageous. The ideal candidate will demonstrate a commitment to innovation, collaboration with stakeholders, and a results-driven approach.
