Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Warranty Recovery Specialist to join our team at the Metropolitan Transit Authority of Harris County. As a key member of our Rail Operations Department, you will be responsible for developing and implementing warranty recovery efforts for failed components and equipment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and implement standardized warranty procedures to track and manage warranty claims, reports, and projections.
  • Assist in evaluating contracts, scopes of work, and rail assets to establish warranty requirements.
  • Develop and maintain a warranty tracking system for warranty failures, claims, and financial records.
  • Provide training and support to Rail Operations personnel on warranty procedures and guidelines.
  • Coordinate with subject matter experts and contract administrators to ensure vendor compliance with contractual warranty specifications.
  • Investigate and process rail-related warranty claims to ensure maximum recovery of replacement parts and/or services.
  • Negotiate with vendors for settlement of warranty issues.
  • Develop and maintain a database system for warranty claims filed to vendors.
  • Assist in generating cost avoidance reports to cover off-site vendor repairs and campaigns.
Requirements

We require a minimum of five (5) years of related experience in rail/bus/aviation-related electrical/mechanical maintenance, rail vehicle maintenance, or rail wayside maintenance. Strong knowledge of warranty processes and failure analysis and reporting is essential.

Good organizational, analytical, written, and verbal communication skills are necessary. Excellent interpersonal and negotiation skills are also required. Proficiency in maintenance management systems such as SAP, Trapeze, and Spear is desired. Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Outlook, and Word is also required.
