About the Role

We are seeking an exceptional CPU Architectural Innovator to join our Platform Architecture team at Apple. This is a unique opportunity to drive advanced exploration for next-generation iPhone, iPad, and Mac CPU designs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Explore and define next-generation CPU architectures that maintain performance and efficiency leadership
  • Discover insight into CPU performance bottlenecks and drive improvements through architectural and microarchitectural enhancements
  • Set direction for next-generation high-performance CPUs in areas such as branch prediction, instruction/data prefetching, memory subsystem, or other CPU areas
  • Build tools for performance analysis and apply AI/ML techniques for exploration and feature improvement
  • Present analysis/findings to guide CPU architecture and design teams on features for future CPUs
Requirements
  • B.S. degree with familiarity with CPU architecture or microarchitecture concepts
  • Research experience and knowledge of CPU microarchitecture or AI/ML literature
  • Programming experience in Python or C/C++
  • Expertise in one or more disciplines within CPU architecture (branch prediction, instruction/data prefetching, value prediction, caching policies)
  • Ability to identify performance bottlenecks and implement ideas in a performance simulator
  • Experience applying machine learning techniques to novel problems
  • Knowledge of industry performance benchmarks and workloads
  • 10+ years of relevant experience
