As the Engineering Lead Developer within the Internet Gateway and API Management team, you will take charge of various engineering initiatives, including the design, acquisition, and deployment of hardware, software, and network infrastructure in collaboration with the Client/Partner technology teams. The primary goal of this role is to lead efforts ensuring that quality standards are upheld within both existing and upcoming frameworks. Key Responsibilities:

  • Influence the engineering function by providing advice, counsel, and facilitating services alongside hands-on development.
  • Act as a technology subject matter expert for both internal and external stakeholders, guiding all firm-mandated controls and compliance initiatives, as well as all projects within the group, while creating a technology domain roadmap.
  • Identify necessary system enhancements to facilitate the deployment of new products and process improvements.
  • Recommend product customizations for effective system integration.
  • Collaborate directly with client/partner application teams to drive the rollout of tools, educate teams, and support adoption.
  • Analyze problem causality, business impact, and root causes.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of how your specialty area contributes to the business and apply knowledge of competitors, products, and services.

Required Knowledge and Experience:

  • Oversee daily system development and maintenance activities for Apigee Platform Engineering across global regions.
  • Strong understanding of the complete software development, testing, deployment, and operational lifecycle.
  • Experience in developing and supporting scalable products for a substantial user base.
  • Proficient in REST and SOAP-based APIs development.
  • Experience in developing XSLT, XML, and XQuery.
  • Expertise in Unix shell scripting and familiarity with at least one additional scripting/automation language such as JavaScript, Perl, or Ansible.
  • Experience with IBM API Management, specifically in implementing REST APIs, SOAP APIs, Plans, and Security Policies.
  • Mastery of Apigee Hybrid is essential; additional experience with Apigee Edge or Apigee X is advantageous. Familiarity with AOPI Connect, Kong Enterprise, or Tyk is a bonus.
  • Knowledge of load balancers, firewalls, DMZ, and other network concepts related to Apigee.
  • Expertise in implementing cryptographic technologies, including encryption, decryption, and digital signatures.
  • Hands-on experience with implementing and debugging OAuth2.0, SAML, and SSO.
  • Comfortable working in an agile development environment with knowledge of git-based version control systems such as GitHub and standard tools like Jira.
  • Ideally, possess cloud-native skills, with proficiency in navigating, engineering, and debugging within Kubernetes environments such as OpenShift, AWS EKS, or GCP.

Qualifications:

  • 6-10+ years of relevant experience in an Engineering/Developer role.
  • Experience in Financial Services or within a large, complex, and/or global environment.
  • A minimum of two years of experience with Apigee Hybrid is required.
  • Consistently demonstrate clear and concise written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of design metrics, analytics tools, benchmarking activities, and related reporting to identify best practices.
  • Demonstrated analytical and diagnostic skills.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage tight deadlines or unexpected changes in expectations or requirements.
  • Proven track record of operational process change and improvement.

Education:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience is required.
  • A Master's degree is preferred.
