About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Manufacturing Automation Engineer to join our team at Michael Page. As a key member of our engineering team, you will be responsible for designing and developing automated manufacturing systems for high-performance thermoplastics.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and Development: Design and develop automated manufacturing systems for thin, high-performance thermoplastics, including equipment selection, justification, and implementation.
  • Research and Development: Lead research and development of advanced automation concepts to enhance safety, quality, cost-efficiency, and throughput.
  • Project Management: Manage capital equipment projects, including requisition, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Integration and Troubleshooting: Integrate technology and custom automation into new or existing processes, and troubleshoot automated manufacturing equipment and systems.
  • Communication and Collaboration: Communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders to address technical needs and ensure follow-through, and collaborate with a multi-disciplinary team throughout the product lifecycle.
  • Documentation and Training: Create and maintain technical documentation, including drawings, bills of materials, specifications, and work instructions, and mentor and train junior engineers and technicians.
Requirements
  • Education: Bachelor's or Master's degree in Engineering or Engineering Technology.
  • Experience: 5+ years of relevant engineering experience, preferably in manufacturing automation and robotics.
  • Skills: Proficiency in engineering systems, analysis methods, and business tools, including SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software, and ability to specify automation hardware and software.
  • Knowledge: Understanding of machine design, basic electrical design, and common manufacturing practices, as well as plastic part fabrication techniques, including forming and sealing methods.
