Job Summary

The Senior Automation Engineer is responsible for the integration, deployment, commissioning, and optimization of automated fulfillment solutions in new Distribution Centers. This role involves hands-on implementation, collaboration with cross-functional teams, and technical problem-solving to ensure automation projects are delivered on time, within budget, and meet client specifications.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the installation, configuration, testing, validation, and commissioning of automated fulfillment systems, including AS/RS, Goods-to-Person (GTP), AMRs, Cobots, conveyors, and sortation systems. Collaborate closely with the Automation Implementation Manager, Solutions Design, and external vendors to interpret designs and ensure successful automation implementation. Conduct system validation and testing to ensure automation solutions meet performance criteria, safety standards, and operational requirements. Provide technical expertise during the integration of automation systems with warehouse management systems (WMS), warehouse control systems (WCS), and warehouse execution systems (WES). Participate in cross-functional project meetings, offering technical input to align automation systems with project timelines and deliverables. Identify and troubleshoot system issues during implementation and commissioning, working with internal teams and vendors to implement corrective actions. Support continuous improvement initiatives by recommending and implementing system optimizations to improve efficiency, throughput, and reliability. Document system configurations, changes, and test results to ensure compliance with project documentation standards and facilitate future system maintenance.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or a related field. Minimum of 7 years of experience in logistics and distribution, with at least 5 years working directly with automation systems (e.g., AS/RS, GTP, AMRs, Cobots). Experience in third party logistics, omni-channel fulfillment, with focus on e-commerce fulfillment solutions. Experience with WMS, WCS, WES, PLCs, and SCADA systems. Proven experience in the deployment and commissioning of automated fulfillment solutions. In-depth knowledge of automation systems, including hardware and software integration. Strong technical problem-solving skills. Excellent interpersonal communication skills. Ability to work effectively with technical and non-technical stakeholders. Strong documentation and reporting skills.
