Position Overview:
At Raytheon Technologies, we are committed to redefining the future of aviation through innovative engineering solutions. We are in search of a Senior Principal Engineer specializing in Process Simulation and Materials to join our dynamic team.

Location:
This role is primarily onsite, ensuring collaboration and synergy within our engineering teams.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver technical guidance and collaborate with Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to analyze and characterize advanced materials for propulsion systems, focusing on their composition, structure, and thermal and mechanical properties.
  • Engage with manufacturing and engineering Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to establish new process parameters aimed at enhancing product quality.
  • Work alongside process and modeling engineers to develop and validate modeling solutions, conducting thorough evaluations of system performance.
  • Participate in root cause analysis for any anomalies in processes or material performance.
  • Innovate solutions to improve material performance, including the potential for patent filings or documentation of proprietary processes.
  • Create reliable methods for verifying material performance in production settings to uphold product integrity.
  • Develop assessment techniques for materials post-testing and flight service, aiding in the refinement of test methods and acceptance criteria.
  • Define project requirements for simulations, manage timelines, and ensure the timely completion of all projects.
  • Produce comprehensive analysis reports and manage multiple simulation projects with minimal supervision, ensuring validation of simulations against experimental data.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related STEM field from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum of 10 years of engineering experience, or 7 years with an advanced degree.
  • U.S. citizenship is mandatory for this position.
  • Proficiency in computational design and analysis tools such as Fluent, Abaqus, Ansys, COMSOL, and Matlab/Python.
  • Strong understanding of the fundamental physics underlying modeling methodologies.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degree in Engineering, Physics, Materials Science, or a related field.
  • Experience in modeling polymer, metal, or ceramic matrix composites.
  • Background in modeling, simulation, and statistical analysis of engineering solutions.
  • Expertise in material and process development for advanced ceramic systems.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of ceramic property-process-microstructure relationships.
  • Familiarity with Environmental, Health, and Safety standards.
  • Understanding of aerospace quality practices such as AS9100 and ISO9001.
  • Experience in developing and delivering technical presentations with strong communication skills.
