Job Summary

Stony Brook Medicine is seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our Emergency Department team. As a key member of our healthcare team, you will provide high-quality patient care and work collaboratively with our multidisciplinary team to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Responsibilities
  • Collect and communicate patient data to assist in assessment and care planning
  • Participate in the healthcare team and accept delegation from RNs and providers
  • Deliver care in accordance with patient care plans, policies, and principles of relationship-based care
  • Provide routine care for patients, including vital sign collection and medication administration
  • Observe patients' health and review medical charts
  • Assist physicians and registered nurses with patient care
  • Communicate with patients and their families
  • Perform standard diagnostic procedures, including EKGs and phlebotomy
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you must possess a license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in New York State. Acute care experience, phlebotomy, EKG, and/or IV experience are preferred.

Working Conditions

This position may involve exposure to infectious disease, blood, body fluids, and/or tissue, as well as other unpleasant elements. You may be required to handle varying unpredictable, emergency, and crisis situations. Irregular hours and pressure due to multiple calls and inquiries may also be a part of this role.

What We Offer

Stony Brook Medicine offers a competitive salary range of $43,768 per year, with additional benefits including location pay and geography pay. Full-time evening or night shift positions also receive an additional $575 for inconvenience pay. Our comprehensive benefits package includes generous leave, health plans, and state pension.
