Licensed Practical Nurse Float Pool Night Shift

We are seeking a skilled Licensed Practical Nurse to join our team at Stony Brook Medicine. As a member of our Emergency Department, you will provide high-quality patient care under the supervision of a registered nurse. Your expertise will be essential in delivering care that meets the unique needs of our patients.
Responsibilities- Collect and communicate patient data to inform care planning and delivery.
- Participate in the healthcare team and accept delegation from RNs and providers to meet patient needs.
- Deliver care in accordance with patient care plans, organizational policies, and principles of relationship-based care.
- Develop and implement patient care plans based on individual needs.
- Conduct patient interviews and record medical histories and physical conditions.
- Obtain patient vital signs, including pulse, blood pressure, temperature, and respiration.
- Provide routine patient care, including wound care and administering medications.
- Review medical charts and communicate with patients and families.
- Perform standard diagnostic procedures, including EKG, phlebotomy, and Doppler.
- Prepare specimens for lab courier and assist with patient comfort.
This role may involve exposure to infectious diseases, blood, and other unpleasant elements. You may be required to handle emergency and crisis situations, and work irregular hours due to multiple calls and inquiries.
Requirements- Must possess a license to practice as a Licensed Practical Nurse in New York State.
- Preferred: Acute care, phlebotomy, EKG, and/or IV experience.
Stony Brook Medicine offers a competitive salary range of $43,768 - $73,000 per year, depending on experience. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health insurance, retirement plans, and paid time off.
This position may be designated as "essential," which means you may be required to remain at your work location or report to work during an institutional emergency. Prior to start date, you must meet the following requirements: successfully complete a pre-employment physical examination, obtain medical clearance from Stony Brook Medicine's Employee Health Services, complete an electronic reference check, and meet regulatory requirements for pre-employment screenings.
