About Enterprise Credit

The Enterprise Credit division is a comprehensive credit evaluation, oversight, and product management unit responsible for assessing credit for clients across the bank's diverse business sectors, including individuals, corporations, and institutions. To ensure seamless service delivery, the Enterprise Credit team collaborates with various partners in Global Risk, Global Operations, Global Banking, and Consumer & Small Business Banking.

Internship Program Details

The Enterprise Credit Summer Analyst Internship is a ten-week program designed to provide extensive exposure to our credit evaluation, oversight, business controls, and data management processes. The program focuses on practical training complemented by classroom instruction aimed at enhancing technical, analytical, and professional competencies.

Our objective is to allow you to build on your academic background, particularly in technical skills, industry insights, and familiarity with a corporate setting while pursuing your career interests. Your training and development are prioritized, featuring comprehensive formal training at the program's outset, alongside ongoing support, events, and mentorship throughout.

The Enterprise Credit program encompasses six specialized tracks to cater to the various business sectors. These tracks include:

  • Consumer Credit
  • Global Wealth & Investment Management Credit (Supporting our Merrill and Private Bank clients)
  • Global Commercial Banking (GCB), Asset-Based Finance, and Commercial Real Estate Credit
  • Global Corporate & Investment Banking and Global Markets Credit
  • Leveraged Finance Credit
  • Data Analytics and Business Controls/Process Optimization

Focus on Leveraged Finance Credit

The Leveraged Finance Credit segment represents Enterprise Credit in the leveraged finance acquisition underwriting process and the ongoing oversight and management of credit relationships with financial sponsor portfolio companies.

Daily Responsibilities

Key tasks for a Leveraged Finance Credit Analyst may include, but are not limited to:

  • Assessing and analyzing corporate mergers, acquisitions, and leveraged buyout transactions. Reviewing and evaluating underwriting materials, including financial statements, presentations, projections, Quality of Earnings, Credit Ratings, and other third-party reports.
  • Rapidly acquiring knowledge of new businesses and industries.
  • Identifying and defining key credit risks and evaluating them against relevant mitigants.
  • Conducting due diligence with clients.
  • Developing detailed financial projection models.
  • Presenting risk analyses and associated mitigants to senior leadership in EC, Credit Risk, Global Markets, and Global Capital Markets.
  • Contributing to and creating approval and monitoring documents for initial acquisition finance underwriting, quarterly and annual credit reviews, and subsequent credit requests.
  • Engaging in additional projects as assigned, such as reports synthesizing risk exposure statistics, market data trends, and analyses of recently announced transactions.

Qualifications

  • Candidates must be pursuing a bachelor's degree from an accredited institution.
  • A minimum GPA of 3.2 is preferred.
  • A proven track record of high achievement.
  • Common fields of study include, but are not limited to:
    • Corporate Finance
    • Accounting (12+ credit hours preferred, including upper-level courses)
    • Economics
    • Other related disciplines
  • Candidates should demonstrate a strong intellectual curiosity, a commitment to operational excellence, and a focus on achieving sustainable results.
  • Additionally, proficiency in Microsoft Office, along with strong skills in leadership, teamwork, problem-solving, analytical thinking, verbal and written communication, and professionalism, is essential.

Work Schedule

This is a full-time position requiring a commitment of 40 hours per week during standard business hours.
