Job Description:

We are seeking a highly skilled Assistant Director of Engineering to join our team at Facilities Plus. As a key member of our engineering department, you will be responsible for overseeing the operation, maintenance, and repair of all building systems, equipment, and controls.

Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance and Repair: Ensure that all mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems are functioning properly and perform routine maintenance tasks as needed.
  • System Oversight: Supervise the operation of energy management systems, including hardware and software components, in conjunction with or absence of third-party contractors.
  • Fire Protection Systems: Oversee the operation, maintenance, and repair of fire protection systems and their associated equipment.
  • Supervisory Duties: Assist the Chief Engineer in managing daily practices, systems control, and Engineering Department operations, supervise Engineering Department staff as needed, and review MEP-related drawings to ensure compliance with operational standards.
  • Administrative Tasks: Requisition and maintain an adequate supply of materials and parts, manage building and operational records, and utilize proprietary systems to monitor facility services.

Requirements:

  • Education: High School Diploma or GED required; equivalent international certifications acceptable.
  • Experience: A minimum of 7 years of experience as a Building Engineer, with demonstrated proficiency in managing all relevant systems and equipment.
  • Licensure: Must hold a current District of Columbia 3rd Class Steam License and CFC Universal Certification.
  • Communication Skills: Excellent written and oral communication skills, strong interpersonal skills, and proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and proprietary pc-related systems.
