Position Overview

Roku, Inc. is on the lookout for a seasoned and proactive attorney with a robust grasp of online advertising and data privacy regulations to join our legal team. This role presents an exciting opportunity to provide legal counsel on innovative and complex matters within the TV streaming sector, supporting Roku's advertising initiatives from conception through execution.

The successful candidate will demonstrate strong analytical skills, sound judgment, a flexible approach to problem-solving, and the capacity to navigate uncertainty and incomplete information. An entrepreneurial mindset that fosters independent work is crucial. This role is a fantastic opportunity to play a pivotal part in facilitating the company's rapid expansion.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate closely with Ad Sales, Ad Partnerships, Ad Product, and Engineering teams to devise solutions that mitigate legal risks while advancing business objectives and safeguarding our users globally.
  • Provide legal advice on privacy, data security, and product-related issues concerning adtech and agreements related to content and digital product distribution.
  • Offer guidance on a broad spectrum of legal matters, including consumer protection and data privacy laws, ensuring compliance with U.S. and international legal standards and industry best practices through the application of privacy-by-design principles.

  • Strong working knowledge of global privacy and data security laws, with familiarity in other consumer laws being advantageous.
  • Understanding of both B2B and B2C dimensions of the digital advertising ecosystem, including a solid grasp of various advertising technologies.
  • A passion for technology and the ability to quickly comprehend complex technology and product use cases.
  • A Bachelor's degree and a Juris Doctorate from a U.S. accredited law school.
  • Licensed to practice law in the United States.
Employee Benefits

Our comprehensive benefits include global access to mental health and financial wellness resources. Local benefits may encompass statutory and voluntary offerings such as healthcare (medical, dental, and vision), life insurance, disability coverage, commuter benefits, and retirement options (401(k)/pension). Employees are encouraged to take time off for vacation and personal matters to balance their work and life commitments. Please note that not all benefits are available in every location or for every role. For specific details, please consult with your recruiter.

The Roku Culture

Roku fosters a dynamic environment where the focus is on collective success rather than individual accolades. We prioritize hiring talented individuals who excel in their roles, collaborate effectively, and maintain humility. A sense of humor is valued, and we believe that a smaller team of highly skilled individuals can achieve more than a larger group of less talented personnel. We are independent thinkers with ambitious ideas who act decisively, move swiftly, and accomplish remarkable outcomes through teamwork and trust. At Roku, you will be part of a company that is transforming the way the world experiences television.

We take pride in our unique culture, viewing ourselves primarily as problem-solvers. This involves not only devising solutions but also ensuring they are realized and delivered to our customers. Our proactive approach to innovation has been a cornerstone of our success since our inception.
