Phlebotomy Specialist

We are seeking a skilled Phlebotomist to join our team at Mass General Brigham. As a Phlebotomist, you will be responsible for collecting blood samples from patients for laboratory testing. This is a critical role that requires attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
Key Responsibilities- Collect blood samples from patients using venipuncture and heelstick procedures.
- Identify patients accurately and confirm electronic orders according to department policies and procedures.
- Develop relationships with patients to alleviate fears and anxieties associated with blood collection.
- Properly label and transport specimens to the laboratory for testing.
- Collaborate with laboratory staff to ensure accurate and timely testing results.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to maintain certification and stay up-to-date on best practices.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Phlebotomy certification preferred.
- Two years of experience as a Phlebotomist with a performance evaluation score of effective or above.
This is a fast-paced work environment with potential exposure to needle sticks and punctures from other sharps. You must take appropriate precautions according to Infection Control and laboratory guidelines.
