Job Summary

The Development Director is a key member of the Eastern Oregon University leadership team, responsible for building and maintaining short-and long-term fundraising goals, including grant writing, philanthropic campaigns, managing donor relationships, and expanding sustainable fundraising efforts to advance the university's vision, mission, and efforts.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop, cultivate, and leverage partnerships with national and state government organizations, community-based organizations, and other regional partners to develop fundraising opportunities and efforts to address specific regional needs aligned to the STEM Hub's initiative areas, mission, and vision.
  • Lead STEM development and fundraising efforts with CTE, workforce boards, and other organizations to develop projects for STEM and CCL pathways and pipelines for K-12 entities and college and career readiness in Eastern Oregon communities.
  • Prospect potential funders by researching funding sources, initiating contact, and maintaining relationships year-round to ensure a growing support base.
  • Elevate GO STEM work by ensuring timely and high-quality communication with the media, partner organizations, and community, including press releases, presentations, media relationships, and partnership development related to Hub staff, projects, and other partner and funder cultivation efforts.
  • Provide leadership and support to partner organizations in aligning resources to GO STEM Hub priorities, such as providing expertise on program/project design, reviewing/co-developing grant proposals, and providing letters of support.
  • Ensure that all funders receive appropriate, consistent recognition and an accounting of their contribution's impact on the community and the organization's needs.
Requirements
  • Masters Degree in business, educational leadership, nonprofit management, communications, or a related field.
  • Five (5) years of experience fundraising with ability to create, lead, and implement successful fundraising efforts (campaign management, major gifts, documentation, and management) at large and small-scale operational levels.
  • Five (5) years of demonstrated knowledge of donor acquisition and engagement techniques, individual gift proposal development and presentation, campaign assessment, organization, and leadership.
  • Five (5) years of data collection, management, and analysis for fundraising efforts. Education research preferred.
  • Five (5) years of demonstrated successful experience in leveraging partnerships and collaborating with the PreK-12 and university, industries, community partners, and other youth-oriented institutions and organizations.
  • Three (3) years of supervisory experience of multiple professionals and program areas for future growth.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Ph.D. in business, educational leadership, nonprofit management, communications, or a related field.
  • Fundraising Certification: training in fundraising, giving, donor programs.
  • Seven (7) years of advanced specialized experience in relationship management, donor communication, problem solving and critical thinking, and presentation skills.
  • Seven (7) years of data collection and research for fundraising development, management, and reporting.
  • Seven (7) years of experience leveraging, developing, managing, and advocating for resources in the K-12 and university setting, including: successful fundraising as part of a team and independently, experience enhancing revenue, containing costs, and compliance to associated policies, successful management of multiple funding and revenue streams, braiding funding, and tracking of multiple and varied funding/reporting cycles.
