FUNCTION:

The Quality Assurance Engineer will oversee all quality management and control activities related to specific customer hardware at GTC. This role involves collaboration with GTC associates across various departments, as well as interaction with customer and government inspectors. A key focus will be the prompt and effective resolution of product nonconformities identified both internally and externally. The Quality Engineer will establish and maintain robust communication with customers, including formal submissions of root cause investigations and corrective action plans. Monitoring compliance with the GTC quality system is essential, and the engineer will work alongside the quality team to develop and implement improvements. Participation in projects aimed at enhancing customer value is also expected.

KEY RESULTS AREAS:

Efficient management of nonconforming materials and rework activities, ensuring alignment with internal needs and customer timelines.

Compilation of Root Cause and Corrective Action (RCCA) results in a clear and comprehensive format, utilizing 8D methodology, and communicating findings to customers and/or government agencies as necessary.

Ensuring proper dissemination of customer requirements into GTC and supplier/subcontractor processes through accurate completion of quality plan reports for new and modified hardware.

Verification of customer and GTC quality requirements in GTC production process routings through thorough review and approval of new and modified routings.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Examine Nonconforming Material Reports and collaborate with production supervisors and engineers to identify root causes and implement effective corrective measures.

Gather and analyze statistical data to identify necessary process enhancements.

Generate, analyze, and report on statistical quality performance information to ensure effective communication and raise awareness at all levels.

Participate in pre-manufacturing meetings to identify opportunities for preventing discrepancies and waste based on historical insights.

Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineering, Project Management, and Business Development to review contractual obligations and quality plans to mitigate errors.

Investigate customer Corrective Action Requests, Returned Material Authorizations, and complaints promptly to identify process failures and establish effective corrective actions to prevent recurrence.

Develop innovative solutions to address problems and prevent errors identified during quality assurance activities.

Engage in internal, customer, and regulatory audits as required.

Assume additional responsibilities as necessary.

REQUIRED EDUCATION/KNOWLEDGE:

A high school diploma is required.

A Bachelor's or Associate's degree in a mechanical, industrial, or quality-related field is preferred.

Training in Lean Enterprise methodologies is beneficial.

Certification in ISO 9001, AS9100, TS 16949, or related international standards is preferred.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE/SKILLS:

A minimum of 2 years of experience in quality-related roles within a government/aerospace manufacturing environment with a Bachelor's degree, or 5 years with an Associate's degree.

Ability to read and interpret technical documents, including blueprints, operating instructions, and procedural manuals.

Strong understanding of Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing (GD&T) principles.

Demonstrated experience in Lean, Six Sigma, and Continuous Improvement initiatives.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with a proven ability to provide constructive feedback to engineering teams, source inspectors, management, and customers.

Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to develop effective action plans.
