Position Overview

The Aquatic Invasive Species Inspector role is essential for safeguarding Minnesota's waterways from the threats posed by harmful aquatic invasive species. This position involves conducting inspections, educating the public, and enforcing state regulations regarding aquatic invasive species. Inspectors will be trained in Minnesota Department of Natural Resources (MN DNR) protocols and will perform detailed inspections on watercraft entering or leaving various lakes within the Prior Lake Spring Lake Watershed District.


Key Responsibilities:

  • Inform the public about the Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) program and related environmental concerns.
  • Distribute educational materials and pamphlets to visitors.
  • Conduct thorough inspections of watercraft for invasive species.
  • Engage in verbal surveys to gather information.
  • Document inspection findings and activities accurately.
  • Stay updated on best practices for watercraft inspections.

Work Schedule:
This is a part-time position available from May through September, with shifts primarily on weekends and holidays.
