Position Title: Transportation Driver

Reports To: Program Coordinator

ROLE SUMMARY

The Transportation Driver plays a crucial role in providing safe and reliable non-emergency transportation services for individuals in recovery. This position is dedicated to facilitating access to essential services such as addiction treatment, medical appointments, support groups, and personal residences.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Safe Vehicle Operation:

  • Drive the assigned vehicle responsibly, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.

Passenger Transport:

  • Ensure timely and efficient pickup and drop-off of passengers, following designated routes and schedules that may vary.

Vehicle Upkeep:

  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of the vehicle, including checking oil levels, tire pressure, and lights. Report any mechanical issues immediately.

Exceptional Customer Service:

  • Deliver outstanding customer service by maintaining a professional attitude, assisting passengers as needed, and addressing inquiries or concerns courteously.
  • Engage with diverse populations while demonstrating cultural humility.

Record Keeping:

  • Maintain accurate logs of driving activities, including mileage and hours worked. Complete necessary transportation documentation.

Safety Adherence:

  • Follow all safety protocols, including the use of seat belts and proper lifting techniques, in accordance with company safety policies.

Effective Communication:

  • Keep open lines of communication with supervisors and team members regarding transportation status, road conditions, and any unexpected issues.

Emergency Response:

  • Act promptly in emergencies, such as vehicle breakdowns or accidents, following company procedures to ensure the safety of passengers and cargo.

Additional Responsibilities:

  • Stay informed about local events and trends within the recovery community.
  • Assist with special projects and undertake other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

  • Must be at least 18 years old.
  • High School Diploma or GED or equivalent experience.
  • Valid driver's license with a minimum of five years of driving experience.
  • No more than two at-fault accidents in the past three years.
  • Personal vehicle available for participant transportation.
  • Personal automobile liability insurance with specified coverage limits.
  • Willingness to sign a motor vehicle record release form with less than six deficiency points on the record.
  • Vehicle must be legally registered with current tags.
  • No health issues that restrict driver licensing.
  • Pass pre-employment and regular drug screenings.
  • Availability for early morning and weekend shifts.
  • Ability to complete I-9 Employment Eligibility Verification.
  • Background check clearance (prior convictions may not disqualify an applicant).

WORK ENVIRONMENT

  • This is a full-time position, typically requiring 40 hours per week, including early mornings and weekends.
  • Travel is necessary as work is primarily conducted from your own vehicle.
