Cardiac Ultrasound Specialist

Key Responsibilities:
- Specialize in performing cardiac ultrasound diagnostic studies.
- Obtain patient history, explain standard procedures, and address patient concerns to foster a sense of comfort and confidence in patients and ensure their individual needs are met.
- Operate and maintain all assigned ultrasound scanning equipment to ensure it works properly.
- Position patients, select appropriate transducers and machine settings, and conduct scanning procedures to correctly capture the images requested by a physician.
- Complete quality assurance processes and practices, complying with all Joint Commission, federal, state, and local regulatory laws, standards, and protocols.
Requirements:
- High School diploma or GED.
- Certified as a Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) by the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) or Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS) or Registered Cardiac Sonographer (RCS) by the Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI).
- Or- Satisfactory completion of a formal cardiac sonographer training program (1-4 years) must be registry eligible and attain certification within one year.
- Or- Graduate from a diagnostic ultrasound training program (2-4 years) with 1 full additional year of full-time clinical experience in a dedicated echocardiography laboratory and registry eligible and attain certification within one year.
- Or- Two years of college with emphasis on the biological sciences with two years experience in a dedicated echocardiography laboratory and registry eligible and attain certification within one year.
- Current BLS certification.
