Vascular Sonographer Specialist

Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled Vascular Sonographer to join our team at McLaren Health Care. As a Vascular Sonographer, you will be responsible for performing high-quality vascular ultrasound procedures that require ingenuity, initiative, and independent judgment on patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Perform high-quality vascular ultrasound procedures, including Ankle-Brachial Index (ABI) scans, carotid and abdominal aorta duplex scans, upper and lower extremity arterial & venous scans, and groin scans.
- Follow department policies and protocols to ensure high-quality patient care.
- Specialize in performing cardiac ultrasound diagnostic studies.
- Obtain patient history, explain standard procedures, and address patient concerns to foster a sense of comfort and confidence in patients.
- Operate and maintain all assigned ultrasound scanning equipment to ensure it works properly.
- Position patients, select appropriate transducers and machine settings, and conduct scanning procedures to correctly capture the images requested by a physician.
- Complete quality assurance processes and practices, and comply with all Joint Commission, federal, state, and local regulatory laws, standards, and protocols.
- Maintain all required documentation, logs, charts, forms, and records in paper and electronic formats.
- Maintain an adequate supply of all consumables to perform quality testing.
- Perform all routine daily, weekly, monthly, and periodic maintenance and function checks following established protocol for all imaging equipment.
- Maintain professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops, reviewing professional publications, establishing personal networks, and participating in professional societies.
- Perform other related duties as required and directed.
Requirements:
- High school diploma or GED.
- Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT) through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography and/or a Registered Vascular Sonographer through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists.
- Or- Satisfactory completion of a formal vascular sonographer training program (1-4 years) must be registry eligible and attain certification within one year.
- Or- Graduate from a diagnostic ultrasound training program (2-4 years) with 1 full additional year of full-time clinical experience in a dedicated echocardiography laboratory and registry eligible and attain certification within one year.
- Or- Two years of college with emphasis on the biological sciences with two years experience in a dedicated echocardiography laboratory and registry eligible and attain certification within one year.
- Current BLS certification.
