IT Support Specialist

We are seeking a highly skilled Systems Administrator to join our team at Virginia Transportation Corp. As a key member of our IT department, you will be responsible for managing and maintaining our organization's IT infrastructure, ensuring maximum uptime and optimal performance.
Key Responsibilities- Manage and maintain the organization's IT infrastructure, including databases, servers, storage, networking, and virtualization technologies.
- Monitor the performance and availability of the IT infrastructure to ensure maximum uptime and optimal performance.
- Manage the organization's AWS infrastructure, including all EC2, S3, and RDS instances.
- Monitor Help Desk application, troubleshoot, and resolve escalated end user service tickets.
- Work closely with other members of the IT team to research and select upgrades to existing hardware and software platforms.
- Patch various environment, upgrade components, software, and integrate automation processes.
- Perform troubleshooting via phone, email, screen share or in person.
- Provide on-call afterhours support for Urgent and High priority issues.
- Travel between the organizations multiple office locations to perform various IT related tasks.
- Perform other duties as assigned by Director of IT.
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Computer Information Systems, Information Technology, or a related field.
- Five years of experience in role supporting infrastructure and or applications, including but not limited to ConnectWise, VMware vSphere, Veeam, AWS, Azure, Active Directory, Windows server, Crowd Strike, Ring Central.
- Experience in database management. Microsoft SQL or MySQL preferred.
- Strong technical skills in IT infrastructure management, including servers, storage, networking, and virtualization technologies.
- Proficient with administering Microsoft Intune, O365 Email, Entra AD, SharePoint, OneDrive, and Teams environments.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Strong technical and organizational skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to sit for most of their job duties. There is the need to frequently walk, including climbing stairs. There will be a moderate amount of standing, stooping, kneeling, bending, lifting and reaching for some of the job duties.
Visual requirements include reading off a computer screen as well as printed materials. A high degree of dexterity is required due to frequent use of a telephone console.
Verbal and auditory requirements include the ability to communicate clearly over the telephone as well as in person.
There is a moderate level of grasping, lifting, pushing and/or pulling of objects of less than 50 lbs.
