POSITION SUMMARY:

The Buyer II (Field) is responsible for various purchasing functions, including soliciting bids, analyzing proposals, negotiating terms, and expediting materials to project sites. This role involves managing purchase order administration, including scope adjustments, invoicing, and order closure. The Buyer II (Field) will collaborate with the MIC construction team, providing essential commercial support to the designated project, reporting to the Field Procurement Manager or onsite Construction Manager.

Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

  • Collaborate closely with the procurement team to acquire high-quality equipment and materials at competitive prices, ensuring compliance with specifications and drawings.
  • Engage in research and evaluation of suppliers based on various criteria, including price, quality, service, and reliability.
  • Prepare and distribute Request for Proposal (RFP) packages to qualified suppliers.
  • Coordinate with engineering teams to address RFP inquiries from suppliers.
  • Assess and compare proposals against RFP criteria, focusing on pricing, delivery timelines, and terms modifications.
  • Negotiate final pricing with selected suppliers.
  • Conduct due diligence to ensure compliance with company policies and practices during supplier agreements.
  • Work in tandem with field engineering, material control teams, and procurement departments.
  • Secure completed purchasing requisitions aligned with final engineering documents and agreed-upon terms.
  • Oversee and manage all issued field purchase orders.
  • Facilitate stakeholder and supplier interactions in accordance with company policies, ensuring adherence to processes and compliance.
  • Foster a positive work environment, demonstrating cooperation and professionalism in interactions with colleagues, suppliers, and business partners.
Qualifications

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:

  • Five (5) to seven (7) years of procurement experience, preferably in a field setting.
  • A four-year degree in a related field (Engineering, Business, Construction Management, Supply Chain preferred).

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:

  • Familiarity with MIC Health and Safety programs and project-specific regulations.
  • Active participation in daily toolbox meetings with crews and subcontractors when on-site.
  • Exhibit safe behavior as a personal standard.
