Career Opportunity

We are currently seeking an experienced Tunnel Engineering Specialist to join our Melbourne office. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for providing construction phase support for an iconic road project in Melbourne. This site-based role will involve shift work, generally matching the construction shifts.

About the Role

  • Undertake geological mapping of tunnel excavations, ensuring accurate data collection.
  • Record and log probe hole inspections and endoscope inspections, maintaining detailed records.
  • Communicate ground conditions to the technical lead and contribute to permit-to-tunnel meetings.
  • Apply rock mass classifications and identify potential wedges, recommending spot bolting when necessary.
  • Compile geotechnical data for reporting, ensuring timely submission.
  • Collate mapping and groundwater records, creating summary sheets for easy reference.
  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and continued improvement of systems across our project team.

Requirements

  • A relevant tertiary degree (Bachelor of Science or Bachelor of Engineering) in Geology, Engineering Geology, or Geotechnical Engineering.
  • 1-3 years of experience in underground or surface geological mapping, preferably with tunnelling expertise.
  • Demonstrated ability to complete field assignments such as geologic assessment, rock mapping, and probe and endoscope hole inspections.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to build relationships with contractors, site personnel, and internal staff.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to OHSE principles.
