Network Engineering Specialist

AWS is seeking a highly skilled Network Development Engineer to join our Network Fabric Engineering (NFE) team. As a key member of this team, you will be responsible for designing, deploying, and scaling Amazon networks that support AWS, customers, and other business units across multiple global datacenters.
Key ResponsibilitiesThe Network Development Engineer will perform high-quality network and/or systems operations, deployments, scaling, technology refresh, sustaining engineering, best practices application, optimization, internal/external customer interactions, and produce appropriate technical documentation.
Core Job Responsibilities- Create network designs, services, and deployment procedures that solve for many requirements.
- Work closely with leadership to decide on projects that best support the team's mission.
- Design ahead of customer or technology needs, predicting and solving for problems that have not yet occurred.
- Create and automate deployment processes that increase quality and velocity.
- Work closely with internal customers on designs/solutions, bringing those designs/solutions from concept to production.
AWS NFE owns datacenter network services that provide unconstrained connectivity to our customers, such as EC2, EBS, S3, and Amazon CDO Services. They own the networks internal to the datacenters end to end, including scaling and operational functions, for both traditional datacenters and newer AWS offerings such as Outposts and Local Zones.

Basic QualificationsWe are looking for a Network Development Engineer with:
- A Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent experience.
- 8+ years of IP networking fundamentals and extensive experience in the application of IP protocols as well as network analysis fundamentals and robust troubleshooting skills.
- 8+ years of experience with major internet routing protocols; specifically, BGP, OSPF, MPLS, RSVP, and ISIS in a large enterprise environment.
- 8+ years working with major network operating systems such as Cisco IOS and/or Junos.
- 3+ years experience with Unix/Linux skills and the ability to script in Python, Perl, shell.
We also welcome applicants with:
- A Masters in Computer Science, MBA, or equivalent experience.
- Senior or Lead Engineer experience at other organizations.
- Expert-level certifications (e.g. CCIE, JNCIE) a plus.
- Expert-level scripting and/or automation skills in a network environment.
- Software development/programming skills are a plus.
