Job Summary

Covenant Health (Tennessee) is seeking a skilled Medical Assistant to join our team in an outpatient clinical setting. As a Medical Assistant, you will provide professional clinical care to patients, working under the supervision of attending providers and practice office managers.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assess patients' general condition, take vital signs, and record weight.
  • Assist providers with examinations, diagnostic procedures, and treatments, including phlebotomy, injections, suturing, and other typical office procedures.
  • Administer patient medications per provider order and policy, ensuring accurate dosage, route, site, and documentation.
  • Orient, instruct, and train assigned personnel as applicable.
  • Provide basic patient care as ordered and ensure test results are received and relayed to patients in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate sensitivity to patients' comfort and privacy by using AIDET fundamentals of communication.
  • Document all interventions, patient/family responses, medication dispensed/prescribed, etc., in the medical record.
  • Promote wellness by providing patient education materials and communicating providers' advice and instructions.
  • Review and consult with providers regarding patient phone calls and urgency of appointment.
  • Ensure an adequate stock of supplies and well-maintained equipment.
  • Monitor and ensure accuracy of recording on patient medical records.
Requirements
  • Minimum one year of experience as a certified Medical Assistant from a recognized certifying organization.
  • Ability to multi-task in an internal medicine office, perform a variety of clinical tasks, and communicate well with patients and allied healthcare professionals.
  • Willingness to work towards providing excellent patient care always.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant from a recognized certifying organization and American Heart Association BLS required.
