Our hospital is equipped with cutting-edge technology, including advanced imaging services and diagnostic tools, ensuring that we provide the highest quality of care to our patients.
Position Summary:
Your primary responsibility will be the accurate collection and entry of essential financial and demographic information for all patients. You will ensure that verification of benefits and pre-certification processes are completed prior to patient appointments or admissions. Follow-up on urgent or unscheduled registrations will be part of your duties to maintain consistency and clarity in the registration process.
Additionally, you will establish protocols to ensure that unscheduled patients receive accurate information regarding their financial responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Collect co-payments and deposits based on verified information, generating receipts and ensuring proper posting to patient accounts.
- Maintain strict confidentiality of all patient information.
- Recommend updates to policies and procedures that enhance efficiency and uphold data integrity.
- Process patient type changes in collaboration with Medical Records and Care Coordinators, ensuring proper documentation is maintained.
- Verify insurance benefits and obtain necessary pre-certifications from third-party payers, utilizing your extensive knowledge of insurance requirements.
- Efficiently gather all relevant demographic, medical, and financial information for scheduling and registration using our computer systems.
- Communicate pertinent updates to leadership regarding procedural changes.
- Interact professionally with patients, healthcare providers, and staff members.
- Stay informed about regulatory and insurance requirements, integrating changes into daily responsibilities.
- Ensure the registration process is conducted professionally, achieving an accuracy rate of 95% to 100%.
- Provide essential information to patients and their families regarding treatment consent, billing policies, and financial responsibilities.
- Perform pre-registration tasks through phone and mail, advising patients of any co-pay or deductible amounts due upon admission.
- Coordinate with nursing services to manage the flow of patient admissions.
- Demonstrate proficiency in using all relevant information systems related to patient registration.
- Show initiative in cross-training for various registration and verification duties.
- Effectively manage multiple tasks and prioritize responsibilities.
- Utilize available resources efficiently, including hospital equipment and supplies.
- Activate manual systems during computer network downtimes and notify leadership of any unscheduled occurrences.
- Adhere to all policies, procedures, and safety standards, completing required educational assignments annually.
- Engage in quality improvement initiatives as requested and perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Minimum Education: A high school diploma or GED is preferred, but any combination of formal education and relevant work experience will be considered sufficient.
Minimum Experience: At least one year of experience in a hospital or financial setting, or a minimum of three years in customer-facing roles is required.
