Infrastructure Design Manager

About the Role

HNTB is seeking an experienced professional to lead and manage architectural projects in transportation architecture. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in project management and a deep understanding of architectural building systems, construction methods, and detailing specific to transportation projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and present technical viewpoints on projects, ensuring HNTB systems are used to deliver design in a standardized manner.
  • Ensure technical solutions consistent with program and design are properly developed and produced, integrating quality control measures during all phases of design.
  • Promote implementation and enforcement of BIM and design technology standards, best practices, and project team workflows.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert on architectural projects of small to medium size and assist on larger projects.
  • Work closely with project designer and manager in planning and implementing all work processes in consideration of budgets and schedules.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Proven experience leading and managing architectural projects, with a focus on transportation facilities and public infrastructure.
  • Confident leadership skills, acting as primary client liaison and ensuring client satisfaction by bringing schedules, budgets, and scope of work to completion.
  • Expertise in construction methods, building materials, and detailing specific to transportation projects.
  • Ability to develop strategic plans for project success, actively manage client and HNTB budgets, schedules, and program requirements.
  • Extensive understanding of interdisciplinary coordination to support all project efforts, both administrative and technical, to ensure efficient and cost-effective execution of assigned projects.
  • Ability to ensure technically sound and consistent solutions by integrating quality control measures during all phases of design, overseeing work efforts, and reviewing work performed.
  • Thorough understanding of building codes, accessibility guidelines, NFPA, and other industry standards.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD, Revit, and other relevant design software.
  • Proficiency in project management and collaboration tools.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and team collaboration skills.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 7+ years of experience as a project architect and project manager in transportation architecture.
  • Experience with local transit/transportation agency experience is a preferred.
  • LEED/Envision certification preferred.
