Job Title: Resident Instructor

Community Residences is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Resident Instructor to join our team. As a key member of our residential program, you will play a vital role in creating a nurturing and supportive environment for individuals with developmental disabilities.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Develop and Implement Individualized Plans: Collaborate with our interdisciplinary team to create and implement personalized plans that cater to the unique needs and goals of our clients.
  2. Provide Support and Guidance: Offer emotional support, guidance, and encouragement to help our clients develop essential life skills, manage daily routines, and participate in community activities.
  3. Monitor and Report Progress: Regularly monitor client progress, identify areas for improvement, and report any concerns or changes to our program coordinators and supervisors.
  4. Administer Medication and Assist with Medical Appointments: Administer medication as prescribed, assist with medical appointments, and ensure our clients receive the necessary medical attention.
  5. Maintain a Safe and Clean Environment: Ensure the cleanliness and safety of our residential facilities, properties, and vehicles, and report any maintenance or repair needs to our program managers.
  6. Participate in Training and Professional Development: Engage in ongoing training and professional development opportunities to enhance your skills and knowledge in supporting individuals with developmental disabilities.
  7. Communicate Effectively: Develop and maintain effective communication with our clients, families, and colleagues to ensure seamless collaboration and support.

Requirements:

  • A high school diploma or equivalent and at least two years of experience in human services, preferably in a residential setting.
  • Valid CT driver's license and a good driving record.
  • Reliable transportation and the ability to transport clients as needed.
  • Ability to lift and transfer 70-75 pounds and perform active work both inside and outside the program.
