Municipal Civil Engineering Specialist

YOUR ROLE
The Municipal Civil Engineer is responsible for overseeing intricate engineering initiatives across various sectors, collaborating with municipal authorities and city councils to deliver engineering solutions that encompass planning, design, and management of civil engineering and municipal infrastructure enhancements.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct engineering tasks, including planning, design, analysis, modeling, drafting, construction oversight, and inspection of public works projects.
- Lead the development of plans, specifications, proposals, contracts, district maps, and cost assessments for upcoming projects.
- Evaluate and authorize engineering and construction initiatives to ensure adherence to relevant laws, codes, ordinances, specifications, and standards.
- Guide the formulation of budget estimates for engineering and construction endeavors.
- Inspect construction sites to confirm progress and compliance with established plans and specifications; address issues and conflicts that arise on-site.
- Assess challenges related to public works infrastructure and determine necessary corrective measures.
- Participate in company meetings, public forums, client discussions, project meetings, and conferences.
- Address public and professional inquiries and concerns with a client-centered approach.
- Perform additional duties and responsibilities as needed.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS
The employee is regularly required to:
- Engage in activities such as sitting, standing, walking, stooping, kneeling, twisting, crouching, and crawling.
- Utilize hands for handling tools or controls; reach with hands and arms.
- Communicate effectively.
- Occasionally lift and move items weighing up to 25 pounds, with frequent lifting of up to 10 pounds. Specific vision abilities required for this role include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Candidates must be capable of performing the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor's degree in civil engineering from an ABET accredited institution.
- Professional Engineering License (PE) for the state of ND or the ability to obtain it within one year of hire.
- A minimum of 6 years of successful design and consulting experience in Civil Engineering, with a preference for municipal experience.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication, time management, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Proficient technical skills and experience with Autodesk Civil 3D, XP-SWMM, WaterCAD, SewerCAD, StormCAD, and other related software.
- Able to work collaboratively in teams and possess excellent listening and communication abilities.
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
Location: This position is based in our Minot, ND office; however, occasional travel to other locations and business conferences may be required.
Compensation & Benefits: This is a full-time exempt position with a salary range of $68,000-$95,000 annually, based on experience, along with a competitive benefits package.
