About the Position

The Medical Records Clerk will be responsible for maintaining accurate and up-to-date medical records for residents at our health care facility. This role requires strong organizational and communication skills, as well as the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Set up and maintain resident medical records, collecting information from nursing staff, physicians, and other sources.
  • Monitor and audit records for completeness and accuracy.
  • Compile, process, and accurately account for all medical records on each resident.
  • Verify the accuracy and accessibility of files.
  • Maintain electronic health records databases.
  • Release necessary information to persons and agencies according to regulations.
  • Prepare MD paperwork, schedule outside MD visits, and update the MD/NP Visits calendar.
  • Process transfer or discharge records and maintain appropriate records on former residents.
  • Add physician's orders, lab results, and department reports to the medical records.
  • Copies Medical Records for Business Office on request for Third Party Payer.
  • Transcribes reports and maintains reports in Medical records.
Requirements
  • High School Diploma or GED required; Associate's Degree in related field preferred.
  • Prior medical records experience in the health field, skilled nursing required.
  • Minimum of two years' experience in a similar role preferred.
