Medical Records Technician

The Community Health Center of Niagara is seeking a skilled Medical Records Technician to support our healthcare team.

About the Role:

We are looking for a detail-oriented individual with excellent customer service skills to maintain the integrity of our Health Information Record. The successful candidate will be responsible for obtaining, inputting, and retrieving accurate information into and from our Electronic Medical Record system.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Maintain the accuracy and integrity of patient records
  • Schedule appointments and complete Pre-Registration tasks
  • Verify demographic and insurance information
  • Discern when triage by clinical healthcare staff is needed
  • Coordinate patient and information flow while maintaining patient confidentiality
  • Participate in Quality Improvement and Quality Assurance activities
  • Complete Prior Authorizations and Referrals
  • Track and Log patient information

Requirements:

  • High School diploma or GED
  • One year of experience delivering customer service at a high level
  • Two years of experience in Medical Records or relevant healthcare experience
  • Computer literate; Proficient in Microsoft Office

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Associate's Degree in a related field
  • Comprehensive knowledge of medical terminology
  • Three years of experience delivering customer service at a high level
  • Three years of Medical Records experience or relevant healthcare experience
  • Proficient with an Electronic Medical Record system and Microsoft Office
