Position Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Planning Director and team to identify and evaluate potential restoration projects.
  • Engage with partner organizations, agencies, landowners, and stakeholders to promote project opportunities.
  • Assist in securing funding for project planning, design, and implementation.
  • Support River Partners' involvement in various planning processes and collaborative initiatives.
  • Communicate with policymakers and elected officials regarding project priorities.
  • Assist in administrative tasks related to project management, including invoicing and reporting.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations to stakeholders and the public, promoting our mission and initiatives.
  • Travel to project sites to assess opportunities and engage with relevant parties.
  • Contribute to other departmental goals as needed.

Desired Skills and Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of hydrology and ecology, particularly in Central Valley river systems.
  • Experience in planning, stakeholder engagement, or advocacy related to river restoration.
  • Familiarity with local governance, community organizations, and environmental nonprofits.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with diverse groups.
  • Strong analytical skills and problem-solving abilities.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • High ethical standards and integrity.
  • Passion for environmental conservation and restoration.

Qualifications:

  • Graduate degree in planning, environmental science, or a related field; or an undergraduate degree with relevant professional experience.
  • Five or more years of experience in natural resource management or restoration.
  • Valid California driver's license with no restrictions.
