Environmental Planner Job Description

At Stantec, we're dedicated to creating a better world through sustainable design and development. We're seeking an Environmental Planner to join our team in Northern California, working on a variety of public and private sector projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Collaborate with multi-disciplinary project teams to support client objectives and goals.
  • Assist with FERC hydropower relicensing, operations, and maintenance projects, as well as other environmental regulatory compliance assignments.
  • Conduct research and write sections of environmental documents, survey reports, and impact assessments.
  • Support regulatory agency permitting activities and develop scopes and budgets.
  • Participate in public outreach activities and manage small projects and assigned tasks.
Requirements:
  • 3-5 years of experience in environmental planning and permitting.
  • Working knowledge of CEQA document preparation and environmental permitting.
  • General understanding of local municipal planning and/or biological resource constraints in the Northern California region.
  • Self-starter with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Team-oriented professional with strong research, analysis, and reporting abilities.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Knowledge of FERC's hydropower relicensing process.
  • NEPA experience.
  • CWA 404/401 permitting.
  • CA Fish and Wildlife 1600 permitting experience.
Education and Experience:
  • BA/BS degree in Environmental Science, Biology, Urban, Regional or Environmental Land Use Planning, Environmental Science, Environmental Studies, or a related field.
