Job Summary
We're seeking a highly experienced and skilled Senior Manager Development/Tooling Fab to join our team. As a key member of our organization, you will be responsible for leading the development and implementation of our tooling and fabrication processes, ensuring the highest level of quality and efficiency.
Key Responsibilities
- Leadership and Management
- Manage the Machine shop, including developing resource plans and profiles, authorizing job descriptions, conducting interviews, making hiring recommendations, assigning tasks, and conducting performance reviews.
- Lead a team of experts in precision machining, ensuring the highest level of quality and efficiency.
- Process Development and Implementation
- Develop and implement new manufacturing processes and procedures, ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to design and develop new tooling and fixtures.
- Quality and Efficiency
- Ensure product quality and conformance to engineering specifications.
- Develop and implement cost reduction processes and efficiency improvement measures.
- Communication and Collaboration
- Interface with area leadership to prioritize work based on production schedule and organizational goals.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless communication and coordination.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5+ years in a direct supervision/leadership position, working on aerospace development programs or production facilities.
- Minimum of 10+ years in the precision machining field.
- Ability to interpret engineering models, drawings, specifications, written work instructions, and test procedures.
- Excellent blueprint reading skills including GD&T per ASME Y14.5M-1994 standard.
- Outside processing knowledge (heat treat, plating, coating, EDM, grinding, etc.).
- Ability to work effectively with a strong work ethic and close attention to detail in a fast-paced dynamic team environment with rapidly changing roles and responsibilities.
- Basic computer skills such as Windows, Microsoft Office, etc.
- Must be able to set a high hiring bar while evaluating and hiring top talent.
- Extremely customer-focused with strong verbal and written communication skills.
- A demonstrated ability to work cooperatively with teams of diverse skills across large geographic distances.
- A continuous improvement mindset.
- Work off-shift, extended hours, overtime, and weekends if/when necessary.
- Intense curiosity for understanding the details of our business and how to optimize it.
- Exceptional organizational and analytical skills and a proven ability to drive complex projects with minimal oversight.
- Ability to earn trust, maintain positive and professional relationships, and contribute to a culture of inclusion.
Desired Qualifications
- Experience machining nickel-based stainless steel alloys, copper, titanium.
- Tooling and fixture design.
- Knowledge CAD/CAM tools.
- Experience operating heavy lifting equipment such as cranes and forklifts around flight critical hardware.
- Knowledge and understanding of CMM programming/operation.
- Outside processing knowledge (heat treat, plating, coating, EDM, grinding, etc.).
- Ability to work cooperatively with teams of diverse skill levels.
- Experience machining tight tolerance, high-value components.
