Responsibilities include conducting inspections and assessments to identify potential hazards and investigating incidents. This position plays a key role in the formulation, execution, and upkeep of safety protocols and procedures, while also providing education and training to ensure staff comprehension and adherence to environmental health and safety standards.

Job Description:

EDUCATION:

  • Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma.
  • Bachelor's degree in Emergency Management, Public Safety, Occupational Health & Safety, Environmental Sciences, Industrial Safety, or a related field.
TYPICAL EXPERIENCE:
  • 5 years of recent relevant experience.
SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

Familiarity with practices and legal regulations such as Title 22, OSHA, Cal-OSHA, The Joint Commission, and Department of Health regarding healthcare disaster and emergency planning.

Understanding of the Hospital Incident Command System (HICS), National Incident Management System (NIMS), and relevant state and local emergency management frameworks.

Ability to coordinate activities among internal departments and external organizations to effectively respond to disaster scenarios.

Knowledge of legislative and regulatory standards related to workplace safety and injury prevention.

Capacity to analyze problems and make informed decisions during emergency situations.

Comprehension of hospital and ambulatory healthcare operations.

Skill in defining issues, gathering data, establishing facts, and drawing valid conclusions.

Proactive in identifying and addressing concerns and issues.

Collaboration skills to facilitate information sharing and cooperation among various stakeholders to achieve desired outcomes.

Demonstrates a customer service orientation in all decisions and actions.

Effective communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to present information to diverse audiences.

Ability to transform data into reports and presentations tailored for the appropriate audience.

Organizational skills to manage and prioritize tasks and projects effectively while meeting deadlines and maintaining responsiveness.
