Senior Environmental Health and Safety Specialist

Job Summary:
The Sr Environmental Health and Safety Engineer is a key professional responsible for ensuring compliance with environmental, health, and safety regulations. This role involves analyzing and developing recommendations for various projects, managing the environmental, health, and safety program, and providing training and support to employees.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain compliance with federal, state, and local regulations, ensuring all environmental, health, and safety procedures and plans are current and followed as designed.
- Conduct field inspections, safety equipment, facilities, and equipment audits, and maintain records of lockout tagout programs, OSHA 300 Logs, and annual training matrix records.
- Prepare compliance reports for submission to regulatory agencies and maintain knowledge of regulations, compiling information and submitting reports for continuous air, water, waste, dust, and other reporting requirements.
- Conduct safety and orientation training, developing training materials and ensuring training records are maintained for the entire site.
- Maintain environmental management systems to effectively manage tasks, track environmental, health, and safety data, and update permits and plans as necessary.
- Lead and track wellness programs, safety committees, workgroup safety meetings, and advise management on improvements to organizational processes.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in environmental engineering, environmental sciences, or physical sciences.
- Six years of related work experience in environmental and safety compliance, with completion of HAZWOPER training, OSHA 511 Basic Course in General Industry, and/or the OSHA 501 Trainer Course in Occupational Safety & Health Standards for General Industry preferred.
- Effective analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills, with the ability to lead projects and work with others effectively in a diverse working environment.
- Effective oral and written communication skills to transmit information accurately and understandably in group settings.
- Ability to establish and maintain good working relationships with government agencies, trade groups, and other industries.
- Computer skills, including competency with spreadsheets, word processors, presentation tools, and other various programs.
- Project management skills, with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks and projects concurrently.
