Job Summary and Qualifications
The Registered Nurse in the Discharge Observation Unit (DOU) is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.

Key Responsibilities:
- Adhere to Standards of Care and Standards of Practice.
- Review patient assessment data, including psychological, physical, environmental, self-care, educational, and discharge planning needs.
- Evaluate patient/care partner(s) ability to manage ongoing health needs post-discharge.
- Educate patients/significant others as necessary, tailored to patient healthcare needs throughout their stay.
- Foster collaboration with physicians and personnel from other departments.
- Demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the patient population served.
- Exhibit understanding of growth and development principles across the lifespan and possess the ability to assess data reflective of patient status, interpreting necessary information to identify patient requirements relative to age-specific needs.
- Deliver care as outlined in department policies and procedures.
- Complete a competency skills checklist within three months of employment.Qualifications:

- Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
- Current license to practice as a Registered Nurse in the state of Nevada.
- Current BLS certification.
- Crisis Prevention Institute (CPI) Certificate required or to be obtained within 90 days of hire/transfer. Must be maintained once acquired.

Experience:

- One (1) year of recent experience within the last two (2) years in a behavioral health facility is preferred.
