Position Overview:

The Burrell College of Osteopathic Medicine is actively seeking dedicated and experienced professionals for the role of Faculty in Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine (OMM). This position may also include a dual appointment in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine, enhancing the interdisciplinary approach to medical education.

We are looking for a passionate and compassionate educator who thrives in a clinical teaching environment within a medical school that offers a comprehensive four-year curriculum. While prior teaching experience is advantageous, we welcome applications from recent graduates who are eager to contribute to the academic community.

The ideal candidate will possess the ability to engage students effectively in both lecture and laboratory settings, fostering a collaborative atmosphere among faculty members. This role emphasizes teamwork, as the selected individual will work alongside other OMM faculty and may apply their expertise in Family Medicine or Internal Medicine in various clinical courses.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Chair of the Department of Clinical Medicine to teach and develop clinical osteopathic skills.
  • Engage in the curricular development process, focusing on osteopathic student interviewing and assessment.
  • Identify and address the learning needs of students, providing academic support and designing collaborative solutions.
  • Support research initiatives led by colleagues and align with the strategic vision of the institution.
  • Maintain proficiency in both established and emerging clinical OMM practices, ensuring high-quality assessment and examination standards.
  • Foster positive working relationships and contribute to conflict resolution in a constructive manner.
  • Uphold confidentiality regarding all sensitive information related to patients, faculty, and staff.

  • Strong problem-solving abilities with a focus on identifying and addressing potential challenges.
  • Advanced interpersonal skills to convey complex theoretical and technical concepts to diverse audiences.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (D.O.) degree.
  • Board Certified or Board Eligible in OMM.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in teaching Osteopathic Manipulative Medicine.
  • Interest in curricular design and implementation, with a background in course development.
  • Willingness to grow and develop as an educator alongside experienced faculty.
  • Desire to engage in medical simulation and clinical teaching across various disciplines.
