The Financial Aid Consultant is the primary resource for individuals seeking guidance in the Financial Aid Office, delivering exceptional service while managing a diverse range of administrative tasks. This role encompasses various intricate responsibilities related to financial assistance services, including evaluating and processing student loan applications, crafting and distributing financial aid packages in accordance with established policies and regulations, and exercising professional discretion to assess student eligibility. The position requires problem-solving skills to address inquiries from students, faculty, and staff.
  • This role is classified as exempt.
  • Reports directly to the Assistant Director of Financial Aid.
  • Compensation begins at $45,691, commensurate with experience.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Provide ongoing financial aid guidance and support to students, parents, and university personnel through various communication channels.
  • Assist students in navigating federal, state, and institutional financial aid programs; clarify eligibility criteria and explain any ineligibility.
  • Distribute necessary applications and documentation; support students in completing and reviewing forms for accuracy.
  • Analyze financial information to assess the ability of students and parents to finance education; verify financial aid applications for eligibility.
  • Prepare and allocate balanced financial aid packages based on assessed needs; communicate award terms and conditions to students.
  • Engage with secondary schools and community organizations to promote financial aid opportunities.
  • Represent the Financial Aid Office in collaborations with other college departments.
  • Maintain accurate financial aid records and data management through remote systems.
  • Participate in reporting and data analysis to support record maintenance and reporting needs.
  • Stay informed on state and federal financial aid regulations; attend professional development events to enhance service quality.
  • Oversee specific administrative programs and service areas as designated.
  • Monitor private loan reports and determine student eligibility for grants.
  • Manage the student loan program, including application processing and communication.
  • Conduct informational sessions for high school students and community groups regarding financial aid requirements.
  • Collaborate with external agencies to facilitate student eligibility processes.
  • Address inquiries and resolve issues related to financial aid transactions.
  • Provide training and support to staff and students as needed.
  • Offer insights on career income potential related to students' fields of study.
  • Utilize professional judgment to make eligibility adjustments based on documented circumstances.
  • Support students facing personal or financial challenges impacting their academic performance.
  • Evaluate and monitor students' academic progress and eligibility.
  • Provide functional support for the Student Information Management Systems.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Qualifications:

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience in financial aid administration within a medical college.
  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Experience with Title IV verification.
  • Familiarity with CAMS software.
