Position Overview:
As an Overnight Emergency Veterinary Technician at Ethos Veterinary Health, you will play a crucial role in our 24-hour emergency and critical care facility. Our mission is to provide exceptional medical care to pets in need, ensuring that both the animals and their owners receive the highest level of compassion and respect.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and attend to the needs of patients in the emergency and critical care unit.
  • Engage in patient triage to enhance operational efficiency and keep clients informed during the process.
  • Assist in stabilizing patients through various medical procedures, including IV catheter placement and drug therapy.
  • Monitor patients closely and maintain accurate medical records.
  • Conduct diagnostics and treatments for patients arriving at the emergency department.
  • Facilitate patient discharge while providing essential client education on home care and medication.
  • Administer and monitor anesthesia and sedation protocols.
  • Communicate regularly with pet owners regarding their pet's condition throughout their visit.
  • Collaborate effectively with the veterinary care team on treatment plans and nursing care.
  • Demonstrate technical skills such as venipuncture and safe animal restraint.
  • Adhere to established hospital policies when addressing client concerns.
  • Participate in mentorship opportunities for Veterinary Technician Specialists (VTS).
  • Be prepared to work rotating holiday shifts and participate in on-call rotations as necessary.
  • Document all medical information legibly in compliance with hospital policies.
  • Understand and enforce OSHA regulations and safety standards within the hospital.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
Work Schedule:
  • Three 12-hour shifts, including one weekend shift.
  • Two holidays per year.
Compensation:
  • Hourly rate between $20 - $35, based on skills assessment and credentialing.
  • Higher compensation available for VTS credentialed technicians.
Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Completion of an AVMA-Accredited Veterinary Technician Program is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills and a positive work ethic are essential.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to changing situations are necessary.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.

This role involves physical activity, including sitting, standing, bending, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
