The Biological Sample Collection Specialist plays a crucial role in the collection of biological samples at various client locations to facilitate scientific analysis. Key responsibilities include ensuring the integrity of the collection process, maintaining accurate records for reporting, verifying initial insurance details for billing, and preparing samples for transportation.
Key Responsibilities:
- Establish and maintain effective communication with clients and the Aegis Sales Management team.
- Adhere to established standard operating procedures (SOPs) for sample collection.
- Safeguard the integrity of each 'Chain of Custody' and sample by ensuring:
- Appropriate sample volumes are collected.
- Samples are accurately labeled and securely sealed.
- Confirm that sample requisitions are complete and all information is accurate.
- Utilize Electronic Lab Requisitions (ELR) "FLUID" for submitting samples.
- Address inquiries from clients and patients regarding Aegis policies.
- Complete and uphold necessary Compliance Training, including:
- HIPAA Training, among others.
- Annual Lease Agreements as required.
- Comply with all relevant safety protocols, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
- Manage supply orders and budget in collaboration with the Regional Sales Manager (RSM) and Area Sales Manager (ASM).
- Verify insurance details through the Passport system as necessary.
- Request and collect payments from patients when applicable.
- Maintain ongoing communication with the Regional Sales Manager and Area Sales Manager.
- Assist the ASM/RSM in achieving marketing and sales goals related to sample collection.
- Develop a comprehensive understanding of Aegis testing services.
- Exhibit a positive and proactive attitude while representing Aegis professionally.
- Engage in process improvement initiatives, including defining processes, analyzing measurements, and implementing controls.
- Contribute to team efforts aimed at achieving departmental and organizational objectives.
- Provide guidance to colleagues through example and knowledge sharing.
- Perform additional duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- High School diploma or GED is required.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a focus on quality and confidentiality.
- Previous experience in the medical field is preferred.
- Exceptional customer service skills are vital for success in this position.
- Maintain a positive demeanor in patient interactions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple tasks without compromising quality, attention to detail, and the ability to engage with staff at all levels.
- Basic computer proficiency, including:
- Ability to send, receive, and monitor emails.
- Basic understanding of website navigation and URL entry.
- Ability to manage usernames/passwords and recognize the importance of credentials.
- Familiarity with computer ports (e.g., USB for signature pads, printers).
- Typing speed of at least 40 words per minute.
- Experience with the Windows operating system.
- Preferred experience with tablets and stylus usage.
- Knowledge of file management and security measures.
Work Schedule:
- Part-Time, up to 20 hours per week.
- Shifts may include Monday, Wednesday, Thursday: 1:00 PM - 5:00 PM and Tuesday: 8:00 AM - 4:00 PM.
