Key Responsibilities- Provide Direct Patient Care: Assist patients with daily living activities, such as bathing, dressing, and grooming, as delegated by the RN.
- Monitor and Record Vital Signs: Accurately measure and record patients' vital signs, including temperature, pulse, and blood pressure.
- Assist with Personal Hygiene and Physical Care Needs: Help patients with personal hygiene and physical care needs, such as toileting, feeding, and transferring.
- Accurately Measure and Record Intake and Output: Measure and record patients' intake and output, including food and fluid intake, and output, such as urine and stool.
- Obtain and Record Daily Weight: Weigh patients daily and record their weight accurately.
- Perform Blood Glucose Testing: Use a blood glucose meter to test patients' blood glucose levels.
- Report Changes in Patient Status: Promptly report any changes in patients' status to the RN.
- Perform Unit Housekeeping Needs: Clean and maintain the patient care unit, including disposing of trash and restocking supplies.
- Deliver Specimens and Pick Up Medications: Deliver specimens and pick up medications as needed.
- Act as Receptionist for Unit: Answer phones, respond to patient calls, and perform other administrative tasks as needed.
- Check and Document Refrigerator Temperatures: Check and document refrigerator temperatures as delegated, reporting any variances to appropriate personnel.
- Update Assigned Bed Status: Update the assigned bed status accurately.
- Answer Call Lights and Telephone: Answer call lights and telephone promptly.
- Keep Patient Environment Clean: Keep the patient environment clean and tidy, including performing comfort rounds and keeping hallways clear of obstructions.
- Communicate with Patients, Families, and Healthcare Team: Communicate effectively with patients, families, and the healthcare team in a courteous and professional manner.
- High School Diploma or Equivalent: Required
- BLS Certification: American Heart Association certification required
- Less than 1 Year of Direct Patient Care Experience: Required or graduated from an accredited school of nursing
- Good Written and Oral Communication Skills: Required
- Completion of PCA II Orientation/Training: Required
