Patient Care Technician

Job Summary:
The Patient Care Technician/Lab Tech is a vital member of our healthcare team, responsible for providing exceptional patient care and laboratory support services. This role requires a unique blend of clinical and technical skills, as well as excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist nurses, physicians, and other clinical staff with patient care, including vital sign monitoring, specimen collection, and laboratory testing.
- Perform laboratory tests, including phlebotomy, urinalysis, and blood glucose monitoring.
- Process and report laboratory results, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
- Maintain a clean and safe environment, adhering to infection control and safety protocols.
- Provide basic patient care, including vital sign monitoring, positioning, and feeding.
- Assist with rooming patients, transportation, and discharge.
- Collaborate with other disciplines to provide well-coordinated patient care.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and maintain accurate records.
Requirements:
- High School Graduate or GED equivalent.
- Current Healthcare Provider BLS certification or Heart Saver CPR with AED within 90 days of employment.
- One or more of the following certifications: Phlebotomy, Certified Nursing Assistant, Nursing Student, Patient Care Technician, Certified Medical Assistant, Certified Emergency Medical Technician, Licensed Paramedic, or U.S. Military Hospital Corpsman Training.
- Experience working in an Emergency Department or acute care hospital preferred.
