JOB SUMMARY

This role collaborates closely with the Business Banking division and product teams to assess the financial health of individuals and businesses seeking credit. The Financial Credit Analyst aids the Business Banker and other key stakeholders in crafting comprehensive loan presentations. Additionally, this position entails the continuous oversight and risk assessment of a designated portfolio.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Evaluates the applicant's business strategy, financial condition, repayment capacity, net worth, and income history for new, renewal, and existing loans, assigning suitable loan quality ratings, and collaborating with a Business Banker.
  • Identifies critical risk elements and mitigations pertinent to specific transactions and the assigned portfolio.
  • Constructs a well-rounded and informed perspective on the business, financial, and competitive risks encountered by a company, sector, and industry.
  • Analyzes financial data and generates reports for Business Bankers and other departments upon request.
  • Supports the credit underwriting process, including annual assessments, covenant evaluations, reporting, and document management.
  • Reviews appraisals and third-party evaluations to determine collateral values and pinpoint potential transaction risks.
  • Maintains commercial financial credit records, emphasizing the timely and precise filing of financial information and due diligence materials.
  • Offers technical guidance and support to Business Bankers, the Chief Business Banking Officer, Loan Review personnel, and other key roles as necessary.
  • Oversees the financial information tracking system, ensuring timely and accurate updates of various financial data.
  • Engages in customer due diligence discussions as required, attending client meetings to gain insights into the company, collateral, and management assessment.
  • Performs additional tasks and responsibilities that support the essential functions of the role, which may be adjusted based on individual circumstances.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Bachelor's degree in a relevant field (accounting, finance, economics) or equivalent professional experience.
  • 2 - 4 years of experience in Commercial Real Estate and Commercial & Industrial credit/lending preferred.
  • Completion of a significant corporate bank credit training program is preferred.
  • Experience in credit structuring and marketing.
  • Strong written, verbal, organizational, analytical, and interpersonal skills are essential.
  • Familiarity with business banking procedures within financial institutions.
  • Proficiency in computer software, particularly Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with credit underwriting platforms.
  • Ability to read, interpret, and analyze credit data effectively.
  • Project management capabilities with the ability to prioritize and manage multiple projects concurrently.
