About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled Quantum Research Expert to join our team at the Software Engineering Institute. This is a full-time position in Pittsburgh, PA.

Job Description

The successful candidate will use advanced interdisciplinary skills in STEM fields such as statistics, mathematics, physics, electrical engineering, and computer engineering to help our government and industry clients research and develop innovative solutions to complex technical challenges. Key areas of focus include quantum communication, quantum computing, quantum sensing, and quantum information science (QiS).

Responsibilities
  • Conduct research and development in quantum technologies
  • Work with customers to identify areas where advanced quantitative & technical skills can help tackle problems
  • Plan and develop prototype solutions
  • Built out final products
Requirements

To be considered for this role, you must have:

  • A BS in computer science, statistics, engineering, physics, mathematics or related highly-quantitative discipline with ten years of experience or equivalent combination of training or experience; or MS in computer science, statistics, engineering, physics, mathematics or related highly-quantitative discipline with eight years of experience; or PhD in computer science, statistics, engineering, physics, mathematics or related highly-quantitative discipline with five years of experience
  • A willingness to complete modest travel to various locations to support the SEI's overall mission
  • The ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Department of Defense security clearance
Desired Experience
  • Experience in research project design and experimentation
  • Experience in modeling and simulation
  • Experience implementing or utilizing various quantum technologies
Location and Pay

This is a full-time position located in Pittsburgh, PA. We offer a competitive salary of $160,000 per year.
